The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is investigating after a man was struck and killed by a Red Line train at Kendall Station in Cambridge.

The accident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Joe Pesaturo, a spokesman for the MBTA.

The identity of the victim was not immediately known. No passengers onboard the train were injured in the accident.

The fatal accident disrupted service for many hours afterward. The T was busing passengers between Park Street and Harvard Square after the accident.

No further details are available at this time as authorities investigate the accident.
