Michaels Stores Inc. in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of 310,000 seasonal writing pens due to high levels of lead on the surface paint.

The pens were sold individually as one of a four-series. Each pen featured different seasonal designs including – flowers, Christmas, Easter and Halloween ornamentation and were identified on the labeling as “Flower Writer,” Easter Writer,” “Spooky Writer” and “Christmas Writer.”

No injuries have been reported in the U.S. and Canada but the company decided to recall the product as a safety measure for consumers. The company advises customers to stop using the pens immediately and to return them to Michael’s stores for a full refund.
