Mattel, in cooperation with CPSC, announced a voluntary recall of Barbie accessory toys due to excessive levels of lead in the surface paint.

Lead is toxic and if ingested by small children it can cause adverse health effects.

Product numbers, model names and date codes of the recalled toys can be found on Mattel's website. Date codes and product codes are printed on the largest piece of the toy sets.

Consumers are advised to take the recalled toys away from children immediately and to contact Mattel for a free replacement toy of equal value.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Mattel's Fisher-Price hotline at (888) 496-8330 anytime, or visit the firm's Web site at www.mattel.com/safety.
